Lovi Poe Makes “Tough Decision” To Exit “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo”

Mokang bids farewell to Tanggol and “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo”

Lovi Poe has decided to close a door as she announced her exit from the ABS-CBN primetime series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” as Mokang.

The 34-year-old actress portrays the love interest of the show’s protagonist, Tanggol, played by Coco Martin.

On Thursday, January 4, 2024, fans saw a disconsolate episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” after the beloved Mokang willingly caught a gunbullet for Tanggol—eventually leading up to her demise.

The character’s exit may prompt a significant change in the plot, considering that the teaser released in mid 2023 shows a conflict between Tanggol and his father Ramon (Christopher De Leon) over Mokang’s affection.

Lovi’s Instagram post comes with a video montage of random behind-the-scenes clips from their shootings. The caption, on the other hand, contains words of gratitude for some of the people she had the opportunity to work with.

Lovi writes, “I am truly blessed to have been part of a project that represents my fathers name. It was a first and it will always mean the world to me.

“My deepest appreciation to Sir Deo, Tita Cory and ABS-CBN for this opportunity. You have given me a missing piece to my puzzle. For that, I will always be grateful. [heart emoji]”

“A big part of my 2023 was breathing life into a character I have grown to love – what a privilege it was to play Mokang.

“She was a fighter and she taught me how it is to truly be free. It really was a tough decision for me to make but I have decided to turn the page. [heart emoji]

“To my Batang Quiapo team, the depth of your creativity and imagination knows no bounds and I know you will continue to soar high. I will always be cheering for all of you from afar. Mamimiss ko kayo ng malala.

More than that, Lovi has expressed fond words for Coco as a leading man and as the director of the show. She writes, “To my dearest tagapagTANGGOL, maybe in another life? [wink emoji]”

“Direk Coco, my dad’s legacy is in great hands. Salamat at pinagpapatuloy mo. Coco, I will always be one of your biggest fans. Please try to get some sleep. [heart emoji]”

Wrapping up her emotional post, Lovi writes, “At sa mga nagmamahal kay Mokang, sobrang mahal ko din kayo. Maraming maraming salamat poe.”

“FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” started airing in February of 2023. Viewers may catch its episodes from Monday to Friday, 8 p.m., on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, TV5, iWantTFC, and TFC.
