Here’s A Sneak Peek At David Licauco, Barbie Forteza’s Upcoming TV Series “Maging Sino Ka Man”

David sheds off modesty for a bad boy portrayal of Carding!

BarDa—the television tandem of Barbie Forteza and David Licauco— is set for a primetime comeback for GMA-7’s upcoming adaptation of Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla’s 1991 movie, “Maging Sino Ka Man.”

The role deviates far from David’s prior character as Fidel in “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” as this time, his role as Carding withdraws from a nuanced formality and explores “bad boy” behavior.

Barbie, on the other hand, will play as Monique, initially played by Sharon—love interest of Robin.

In a teaser released by GMA-7, the two can be seen in a random bar encounter, while the following shot features David catching a tripping Barbie.

GMA-7 uploaded another teaser on Monday, August 14, with the network calling the return as this year’s biggest TV adaptation of an all-time favorite Pinoy movie.

The tandem had their script-reading session in July and had gotten some early praises from netizens.

“Maging Sino Ka Man” follows the well-received “Maria Clara at Ibarra” of GMA-7 wherein Barbie took the role of Klay and David as Fidel.

David’s preparation as a bad boy

David, touted by GMA-7 as “Pambansang Ginoo,” has been extensively preparing for his role in “Maging Sino Ka Man.”

According to GMA News, David is immersing himself in various preparations including language training for “Kanto slang.”

The 29-year-old actor reveals that even in casual conversations, he makes it a point to use tol and tropapeepz to address his friends.

While David used to converse in Filipino for GMA-7’s hit series “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” the actor needs to familiarize it further since the premise requires a more laid-back approach.

With the physical demand of “Maging Sino Ka Man” remake, David then needed to practice and shoot  action scenes—with some clips even gaining a thousand likes from fans who have long anticipated his on-screen return with Barbie.

Nung nakita ko nagulat ako kasi, ‘Uy wow, mukhang action star ako dito, ah,’ he says about his new role.

Apart from these, David initially underwent a slingshot training for his action-packed portrayal of Carding— a role first dignified by Senator Robin Padilla in 1991.
