Hayley Williams And Josh Farro Get Songwriting Credits On Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘Good 4 U’

Two people have been added to the songwriting credits of Olivia Rodrigo‘s chart-topping single “Good 4 U.”

Paramore lead vocalist Hayley Williams and former guitarist Josh Farro were not included in the list of songwriters recognized on Olivia’s debut album when it came out last May. But it turns out that Hayley and Josh have now been given co-writing credits for Olivia’s song “Good 4 U,” which fans think sounds a lot like Paramore’s 2007 hit song “Misery Business.”

On Instagram Stories, music publishing company Warner Chappell Music posted a photo that says, “A huge shoutout to our writers Hayley Williams and Joshua Farro” under the song “Good 4 U.” Hayley also shared the post on her account, saying, “Our publisher is wildin rn.”

Another revision

According to Variety, the “retroactively-added songwriting credits” is the second update made on Olivia’s album, following the songwriting credit change for “Deja Vu.” Last month, Rolling Stone reported that Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff, and St. Vincent—the writers of Taylor’s song “Cruel Summer”—have also been added as co-writers for Olivia’s second single from “Sour.”

The 18-year-old singer previously talked about how “Cruel Summer” inspired the bridge of “Deja Vu.”

“I wanted [the bridge] to be really high energy because the rest of the song is very serene and eerily calm,” she said.

“But I wanted the last bridge to kind of go crazy and I love ‘Cruel Summer,’ it’s one of my favorite songs ever. I love the harmonized yells she does. I feel like they’re super electric and moving, so I wanted to do something like that.”

Taylor and Jack were also credited on “1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back,” which includes an interpolation of Taylor’s 2017 song “New Year’s Day.”

Olivia mentioned them in her album’s booklet, saying, “Thank you to Taylor and Jack Antonoff for graciously letting me use their masterpiece ‘New Years Day.’ The songs they’ve crafted together are my favorite songs of all time.”
