KD and Alexa take inspiration from “The Little Mermaid”
The Star Magical Prom is back for its sophomore year, with young Kapamilya stars convening for a night full of glitz and glamor—fairytale style.
The event held on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Bellevue Manila in Mandaluyong City has seen many highlights unfold—one of which is the coronation of KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad as this year’s prom king and queen.
Adhering to this year’s fairytale theme, KD and Alex have walked the ivory carpet inspired by the visuals of Disney’s 1989 animation “The Little Mermaid.”
With her hair as red as Ariel’s, Alexa dons a pearl-embellished, luminescent gown with side slit—creating a wet illusion. The ensemble was custom-made by fashion designer Ehrran Montoya, and her look was curated by stylist Patty Yap.
Alexa shares on the ivory carpet, “So, I had colored my hair last January. So sakto, I thought it was fitting with the theme na Disney fairytale. Sabi ko, ‘What’s the point of having red hair kung hindi ako magiging si Ariel, di ba?’”.
For KD, he is seen wearing a “more formal” version of Prince Eric’s attire from the live-action remake of the animation. The black tuxedo with white collar takes inspiration from the wedding scene of the said film.
The respective titles were handed by Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano—outgoing prom king and queen.
Aside from being hailed as this year’s prom king and queen, KD and Alexa have also garnered the Best “Promposal” award and the Closeup Amazing Couple of the night.
KD has asked Alexa to the prom through an intimate dinner he prepared for the actress. The proposal was executed with the help of KD’s dog, Cola.
In an Instagram post shared by the “Pinoy Big Brother” alum, it can be seen that the furbaby is wearing a sign that reads, “Mommy, will you go with Daddy to the Prom?”
