Sunshine Dizon reveals accidentally hurting Elisse Joson in a slapping scene!
Sunshine Dizon may have been in the industry for more than 30 years, acting in different projects and getting awards here and there. However, she is not spared from experiencing challenges when doing scenes.
One such instance happened on the set of her current drama series, “Pira-pirasong Paraiso,” when she was delivering her lines.
Sunshine shares, “There was this one taping na Direk Raymund [Ocampo] reminded me na he really wanted me to deliver the scene and the dialogues exactly how it was written.
“E, pagod na yung lola mo, siyempre, ma-onders na ng slight, di ba? Hindi na perfect ang memory!
“’Tapos talagang lumapit si Direk Raymund explaining to me na, ‘You have to tell this because it is a story.’”
Sunshine was then reminded of her younger years when she was doing the weekly series “Anna Karenina” where they were trained to deliver a script not just by their interpretation.
She continues, “Parang nag-flashback noong 13 years old ako na, ‘Oo nga ano, this is my training.’
“You have to remember to say the right words, yung phrasing, yung breathing kasi you are telling a story. You are relaying that to the audience. Kung hindi tama yung pagkaka-relay mo na yun, hindi nila mararamdaman, hindi nila maiintindihan.’
“So sabi ko pa, ‘Ay, wow. Thank you.’ And I thanked Direk, sabi ko, ‘Direk, thank you for reminding me.’
“Hindi ako na-offend ever kasi nga ang kailangan, bilang artista, naaalala mo rin yun.”
Of this, Sunshine can say that “Pira-pirasong Paraiso” is one of the projects that allowed her to continue to grow.
“I can say siguro that this is one of the shows that really changed me also as an actor, I think I really grew in this project a lot.
“And also, I’d like to thank si Direk Raymund, Direk Dick [Lindayag] kasi, di ba, kapag matagal ka na sa industriya, marami ka nang minsan nakakalimutan.
“Kasi parang feeling mo, kahit nakapikit ka, pwede mo nang gawin pero nandoon sila parati, nagpapaalala.”

Speaking to FreebieMNL at the Q&A of “Pira-pirasong Paraiso” finale press conference on Wednesday, January 17, at ABS-CBN Studio 10, Sunshine also testified how her co-stars have been very professional.
The series is headlined by Loisa Andalio, Charlie Dizon, Alexa Ilacad, and Elisse Joson.
Sunshine had good words for the four actress who were always in their A-game even if they had already exhausted their energy throughout the day.
Talking about Elisse, Sunshine says, “Elisse was like, ‘Ate, pagod na pagod na ako, hanggang 12 midnight na lang yung energy ko.’
“Pero noong take na, bigay na bigay talaga! Awang-awa pa ako kasi hindi sanay sa sampalan.”
In the scene, Sunshine had to slap Elisse. Compared to Sunshine who has been doing fight scenes since she was younger, it was Elisse’s first time to be involved in such a scene.
Sunshine continues, “Hindi niya alam paano i-sway yung face niya! Siguro akala niya, yung mga naunang na-take namin, yun na yung ibibigay ko sa closer shot niya.
“My God, sinalo niya yung palad ko noong closer shot ‘tapos narinig ko talaga yung, ‘Pak!’
“Sabi ko, ‘Oh no!’ Ako yung awang-awa sa bata na alam kong babakat yung kamay ko.
“’Tapos alam mo yung I can do na lang is hug her tightly kasi awang-awa ako sa anak ko, may pasa na, ang puti puti pa, kasi pareho kaming pasain, e.”
But what Sunshine admires of Elisse and her co-stars is that despite mishaps on the set such as this, she has never heard anyone complaining.
“Pero not a single thing you can hear from them, parang wala lang, and the next day, they still have energy and it’s a bright new day and they’re always excited to see us, always excited to do scenes.”
“Pira-pirasong Paraiso” is set to end its run on Saturday, January 27, 2024. It airs on TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and Kapamilya Online Live.
