KDLex, LoiNie Headline First ABS-CBN, TV5 Series Collaboration

KDLex and LoiNie are among the big names that headline the comeback

ABS-CBN’s daytime drama slot, Kapamilya Gold, is set for a big comeback in producing original dramas with “Pira-pirasong Paraiso,” the newest series headlining some of this generation’s leading men and dramatic actresses. The project is the first-ever drama collaboration between ABS-CBN and TV5.

The two networks dropped the trailer for “Pira-pirasong Paraiso” through their respective YouTube entertainment channels on Friday, April 28, immediately teasing fans with suspenseful narratives of love, lies, and betrayal.

Casting goes big and heavy as it is composed of Star Magic’s love teams: KDLex (Alexa Ilacad and KD Estrada) and LoiNie (Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte). Elisse Joson, Joseph Marco, and Charlie Dizon, complete the cast ensemble after their respective remarkable performances in their recent shows.

Twitter insiders also say that Sunshine Dizon, Epy Quizon, and Art Acuña are joining the cast, and are said to contribute something “important” to the plot.

This is based on a leaked Instagram story where their names were seen during the script reading and story conference.

“Pira-pirasong Paraiso” cast

Dreamscape Entertainment is set to produce “Pira-pirasong Paraiso,” the same production unit behind ABS-CBN’s noteworthy afternoon programs, including “Doble Kara,” “Sandugo,” “Love Thy Woman,” and “Kadenang Ginto.”

Raymund B. Ocampo—the director behind the 2017 soap “Wildflower,” will helm the series.

This marks Alexa Ilacad and KD Estrada’s first teleserye after leading the cast of “Run To Me,” an iWantTFC mini-series directed by Dwein Baltazar. Far from the feel-good romance that the breakout loveteam has delivered in the show, “Pira-pirasong Paraiso” has seemingly reinvented their connection as it demands a gritty, more mature portrayal.

The KDLex tandem was also seen on stage via the PETA play, “Walang Aray.”

Ilacad and Estrada first developed their chemistry inside the reality show, “Pinoy Big Brother: Kumunity” Season 10.

As for the reel and real-life partners Loisa Andalio and Ronnie Alonte, working on-screen is not anything new. iWantTFC’s 2021 original series “Unloving U” featured Andalio and Alonte as star-crossed lovers caught in a forbidden affair. Their last series was “Love In 40 Days,” which aired on Primetime Bida’s late-night slot.

Charlie Dizon recently headlined the series “Viral Scandal,” Joseph Marco was last seen in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” and Elisse Joson is currently starring in “Dirty Linen.”

Meanwhile, the series also serves as Sunshine Dizon’s second teleserye with ABS-CBN. A long-time Kapuso talent since the ’90s, Dizon did her first Kapamilya series “Marry Me, Marry You” in 2021. Early this year, Dizon had a short comeback in GMA Network via “Mga Lihim Ni Urduja.”

ABS-CBN’s collaborations with other networks

ABS-CBN, which now holds a position as a content provider after its franchise was junked by Congress in 2020, has been in partnership with different platforms and networks, including its rivals ABS-CBN and TV5.

“Pira-pirasong Paraiso” succeeds ABS-CBN’s effort with GMA-7 in their upcoming collaboration, “Unbreak My Heart.” The series will premiere on May 29, 2023—with casting high and heavy, including Jodi Sta. Maria, Richard Yap, Gabbi Garcia, and Joshua Garcia.

Since 2021, ABS-CBN has been in a blocktime deal with TV5 to air some of its programs, including “ASAP Natin ‘To,” “It’s Showtime,” “Magandang Buhay,” and its whole ABS-CBN Primetime Bida block.

“Pira-pirasong Pangarap,” however, is the first time that ABS-CBN and TV5 are co-producing a project.

At press time, ABS-CBN’s afternoon block called Kapamilya Gold only airs on A2Z Channel 11 and Kapamilya Channel, showing replays of past Kapamilya dramas such as “Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin” and “A Soldier’s Heart.” TV5, on the other hand, continues to air its own afternoon block with replays of Mexican dramas and old movies.

ABS-CBN and TV5 have yet to announce the airing date of “Pira-pirasong Pangarap.”
