Vice: “Your mother will be mothering again!”
Vice Ganda is gearing up for a big-screen comeback through her upcoming film “And The Breadwinner Is…” to be directed by Director Jun Robles Lana under Star Cinema and IdeaFirst company.
It’s been almost two years since Vice Ganda’s last movie “Partners in Crime” hit the Philippine theaters, and this 2024, she is set for a grand return to the big screen with a new comedy film.
Titled “And The Breadwinner Is…,” Vice made the announcement during the April 19, 2024 episode of ABS-CBN’s noontime program “It’s Showtime.”
As she unveiled the new film, Vice was joined by the director who was welcomed very warmly by the “It’s Showtime” family and the Madlang Pipol.
Vice said, “Isa siya sa mga pinaka-paboritong direktor ngayon, pinakamahuhusay. Pinanood ko talaga ang mga pelikula niya, sabi ko, ‘Ang galing naman ng direktor na ‘to.’ Sobrang galing.”

Direk Jun, in return, has offered Vice words of admiration, saying, “Unang-una, pinapanood ko kanina yung film-making journey mo and nagpapasalamat ako that my film-making journey led me to this moment.”
Jun also shared, “I’m so grateful to be here. Ito yung unang pagsasanib-pwersang collaboration namin ni Vice at ito rin yung unang collaboration ng Star Cinema and IdeaFirst.”
Vice could not contain the excitement, as she also announced that she is set to co-star with her close friend and another “It’s Showtime” mainstay Jhong Hilario.
What to expect from Vice Ganda and Jun Robles Lana’s film
The title “And The Breadwinner Is…”has prompted one of the “It’s Showtime” hosts Vhong Navarro to ask about the film—particularly on what people can expect from Vice and Direk Jun’s team-up.
Direk Jun answers, “Unang-una, bukod sa pagsasama ng style namin, which I think it will result into something really special, yung kwento nito ay napaka-personal at napaka-importante kay Vice. It’s equally important to me at palagay ko maraming mga manonood ang makaka-relate dito.
“At lahat ng inaasahan nila sa pelikula ni Vice—yung saya, yung riot na comedy, hindi lang namin basta ibibigay kundi hihigitan pa namin.”
As teased by the director, the film is slated in 2024 and will premiere very soon. Further details are yet to be disclosed, including the film’s casting, plot, taping timeline, and release date.
Vice currently holds the record as the highest-grossing Filipino actor—hitting an all-time high record of 4.6 billion total gross.
