The story of the drama centers on the lives of two locals from Jeju Island in the 1950s. IU will portray Ae Sun and Park Bo Gum will play Gwan Sik.

Ae Sun, an aspiring poet, faces life’s challenges with optimism, particularly in her pursuit of education. Gwan Sik, characterized by perseverance, has harbored unwavering love for Ae Sun since their youth, joining her on an adventurous life journey.

Moon So Ri and Park Hae Jun, meanwhile, will take on the roles of the older Ae-sun and Gwan-sik, respectively.

Park Hae Jun’s reunion with director Kim Won Seok, following ‘My Mister,’ adds an intriguing element to the project, heightening anticipation among viewers.

“When Life Gives You Tangerines” marks IU and Park Bo Gum’s return to television after several years, their last works being “Hotel Del Luna” (2019) for IU and “Record of Youth” (2020) for Park Bo Gum.

Directing the series is Kim Won Suk, known for popular TV shows like “Misaeng: Incomplete Life” (2014), “Signal” (2016), and “My Mister” (2018). The project will be IU’s second time working with him following the success of the drama series “My Mister.”

Netflix plans a global launch for the Korean series in 190 countries later this year, although the specific release date has yet to be announced.
