Globe Battles Involuntary Hunger With The Hapag Movement

12 restaurants are set to participate in Globe’s Gourmet Giving Series

The term “hapag” holds an important connotation for Filipinos. Beyond its typical meaning as a place for dining, this word carries an experience shared by families every time they gather around the table to eat.

This has been the guiding voice of Globe’s Hapag Movement as they launch the Gourmet Giving Series—a fundraising initiative for Filipino families who suffer from constant, involuntary hunger.

Select culinary artisans will render a unique and flavorful fine dining experience from November 20 to 30 as a way to raise funds for the beneficiaries of the Hapag Movement.

Proceeds from this will be allocated to supplemental feeding and sustainable livelihood training for Filipino families who do not have the means to have decent meal in a day,

Among the 12 top restaurants participating in the series of special dinner events are Txoko Asador, Ember, Helm, and The Test Kitchen.

From kitchen with love

There is nothing more warm and binding than the joy of spending time with family over delicious food. Such culture shared at a dinner table has become the primary theme of Txoko Asador Restaurante’s special menu for the Gourmet Giving Series.

Txoko Asador’s executive chef Albert Mendoza says, “What inspired us is the name of the movement— Hapag. Our idea is to have our customers dine like a family, reaching out and passing on certain dishes and enjoying meal together.”

For Chef Josh Boutwood of Test Kitchen, Ember, and Helm, this gesture is their own way of doing “some good” especially in a virus-beaten Philippines wherein a lot of heartaches and stresses permeated deeply during the coronavirus pandemic.
