Kraft collaborated with Van Leeuwen Ice Cream to release a cool and cheesy dessert just in time for National Macaroni & Cheese Day. The result: Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Flavored French Ice Cream.
“We know that there is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than ice cream,” Emily Violett, senior associate brand manager for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, said. “That is why we wanted to combine two of the most iconic comfort foods to create an ice cream with the unforgettable flavor of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese we all grew up with.”
The refreshing twist on the classic Kraft Macaroni & Cheese was available on the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream website and stores in New York City, Los Angeles, and Houston on July 14, 2021. After just a few hours, the limited-edition flavor was already sold out.
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. Our ice cream collab with [Van Leeuwen Ice Cream] sold out faster than you can say cheese. Stay tuned, we’re checking the back of the freezer for more,” Kraft tweeted.
Van Leeuwen Ice Cream said that they’re “working on making more of the mash-up you never knew you needed but somehow sold out in a few hours.” Eager fans can sign up on their website to get first dibs when they restock.
Earlier this year, Kraft gave away pink, candy-flavored mac and cheese to a thousand couples in time for Valentine’s Day. If you weren’t among those who were able to give this a try, the company described the flavor as “sweet candy meets warm, comforting macaroni noodles… And then they fall in love.”
