Zendaya continues to slay her Red Carpet looks as she attends the Ballon d’Or event in Paris dressed in another stunning gown. The black dress is unassuming at first glance until she reveals the unique open-back metallic spine embellishment. It’s a custom Roberto Cavalli that references Spider-man’s Doc Ock, and we can’t help but awe at the attention to detail.
Another Red Carpet Look for the Books
We can only assume it wasn’t easy getting into that dress, but the trouble has been worth it. The re-done vintage Roberto Cavalli from the Autumn/Winter 2000 collection was re-done by designer Fausto Puglisi. It’s no wonder it fits like a glove because he re-edited the gown and added the intricate spine-like detail at the back for that extra wow factor.
Careful not to take attention away from the pièce de résistance, Zendaya went the natural glam route and stuck with gold accents. She kept her accessories simple with chunky gold hoop earrings to match the gold vertebrae and did her hair in a sleek-back bun.
Could This be a Doc Ock-Inspired Dress?
With just a few days before the Spider-man: No Way Home worldwide premiere, fans pointed out the resemblance between her attire and that of one of the villains. The metal spine is comparable to Doc Ock’s metal limbs, which has gotten people even more excited for the movie. “Zendaya as Dr. Octopus, but make it fashion,” the fan account @daycrue remarked.”
The actress herself shared the comparison photo agreed and shared the post on her Instagram stories and wrote, “We love a reference.” Now that we think about it, it would be interesting to see Zendaya play the role of a supervillain in future projects.
Co-star and boyfriend Tom Holland was also present at the Théâtre du Châtelet on Monday night and dressed in an equally dashing classic black and white tuxedo.
