Bea Alonzo, Julia Barretto Seen Cordial With Each Other At Johnny Manahan Tribute Party

Did Bea and Julia finally put their past misunderstanding behind?

Bea Alonzo and Julia Barretto seemed to have found forgiveness after they were seen warm towards each other at Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan’s birthday celebration. 

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, some of the Philippines’ showbiz personalities have gathered to celebrate and paid tribute to Mr. M—the legendary star maker. 

The star-studded event had seen many highlights unfold—one of which is Bea and Julia’s seeming reconciliation over a distant feud that includes the latter’s current boyfriend, Gerald Anderson. 

In a circulating clip on the internet, both can be seen engaging in a small talk and eventually going in for a quick hug. Bea was seen all smiles, while Julia was facing Bea with her back on camera. 

This has been the first time that Bea and Julia were seen in one event—years after their highly followed controversy with Gerald.

Bea Alonzo and Julia Barretto’s rift 

Bea and Julia’s past involving Gerald Anderson were in murky waters after it was tainted by issues of infidelity. 

Gerald and Bea were once an item—first confirmed when they attended the Star Magic Ball together in 2017. However, in 2019, they decided to call it quits.

Bea first hinted at trouble in paradise when she published an Instagram post that reads, “You can’t make the same mistake twice. The second time you make it, it’s not a mistake anymore, it’s a choice. ENOUGH.”

At that time, Gerald was rumored to have found new romance in his “Between Maybes” leading lady Julia. 

Days after Bea’s IG post, she later confirmed that she and Gerald have officially separated. However, she revealed that it was more of Gerald dumping her since, in her words, “He just started not talking to me.” 

Julia, for her part, was heavily dragged into Bea and Gerald’s severed relationship—with many people pointing their fingers at the actress for being the alleged third party.  

Julia’s newfound closeness with Gerald was also the rumored reason for her fallout with then-boyfriend Joshua Garcia. 

Amid heavy bashing, Julia released a statement in August 2019 over the seeming antagonization of her image believed to have been perpetuated by Bea herself. 

Part of her statement read, “I would like to disassociate myself from the breakup of Bea and Gerald. Their issues are entirely their own. 

“Bea, you wanted to keep your hands clean by not mentioning me in your controversial post, but with a click of your finger, in your sly way, you have charged everybody to destroy me for you.

“You can play the victim all you want, but I refuse to be your victim.”

Two years later, Gerald confirmed her relationship with Julia in an interview with Boy Abunda. According to him, he is “very happy” to have built a romantic relationship with Julia.

Bea, on the other hand, entered into a relationship with Dominic Roque. However, they both ended their romance in February 2024 after being engaged in July 2023.
