Bugoy Cariño and EJ Laure are now engaged!
Bugoy Cariño has proposed to his longtime girlfriend, EJ Laure, during his 21st birthday!
It happened at Bugoy’s birthday celebration on Sunday, September 3.
Zeus Collins, Bugoy’s former Hashtags co-member, captured the heartfelt moment on his Instagram story.
Before asking and declaring his love for EJ, Bugoy first delivered a lengthy message for his partner.
He told EJ, “Halos pitong taon na tayong magkasama pero hindi mo pinaramdam sa akin na hindi mo ako mahal. Araw-araw minamahal mo ako. Araw-araw pinagtitiyagaan mo ako.
“Araw-araw mahaba ang pasensiya mo sa akin. Araw-araw ikaw yung inuutusan ko, pero hindi ka nagrereklamo.”
Bugoy expressed his feelings to their friends at the celebration, saying, “Gusto ko lang sabihin at ipagsagiwan sa lahat ng kaibigan na nandito, kaya napakaimportante niyo sa akin, na itong babaeng ‘to, papakasalan ko.”
He continued, “Itong babaeng ‘to, mamahalin ko hanggang dulo. Kaya maraming salamat sa pagpunta niyo.”
Then, getting down on one knee, Bugoy asked the big question: “Ennajie Cruz Laure, mahal na mahal kita. Will you marry me?”
EJ then gave a sweet “yes” to Bugoy’s proposal.
In another view of the touching moment captured by Kenny Santos, Bugoy and EJ’s five-year-old daughter, Scarlet, joined them on stage.
The proposal was met with enthusiastic cheers and celebration from the attendees.
Their relationship had been the topic of discussion due to their age gap. EJ and Bugoy confirmed in 2022 that they have a daughter named Scarlett.
EJ’s pregnancy rumor surfaced in 2018 after she missed the entire University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80. At the same time, there was a rumor that Bugoy was suspended from “It’s Showtime” as part of Hashtags because of what happened.
The two would eventually share details about their love story in an interview with Karen Davila, including how they tried to hide the pregnancy and being together.
Earlier, Bugoy had hinted at his plans to get married during a media conference for his upcoming film with Bella Mariano, titled “Huling Sayaw.”
