Marian Rivera: “Sa madaling salita, ito yung pelikulang alam namin na magiging proud yung mga anak namin sa amin”
Real-life couple Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera will soon return to the big screen together in a movie project set to happen after thirteen long years.
A media announcement for the project happened on Wednesday, June 21.
Marian and Dingdong proudly announced that they will banner “Rewind,” a family drama film that will be helmed by director Mae Cruz Alviar. It is under the collaborative efforts of ABS-CBN Film Productions’ Star Cinema, APT Entertainment, and AgostoDos Pictures.
For Marian, working with her husband on a film is a long-time dream; with excitement just as high now that Star Cinema will produce the film. “Sobrang excited ako maka-work ang Star Cinema, at the same time, si Direk Mae,” she shares.
In 2013, Marian worked with Star Cinema for an action-comedy film “Kung Fu Divas” with Ai Ai Delas Alas.
The couple shares that it’s a closed deal already upon reading the script. As Marian puts it: “Parang bawat paglipat ko ng pahina doon sa script, parang walang tapon sa script.”
“Walang dahilan para hindi ko ito gawin, especially kasama ko si Dong. Kasi alam niya, every time nagkaka-partner kami na kaming dalawa, meron kaming moment na mas tumitibay kami.”
The sentiment is just the same for Dingdong, who says, “Sa tingin ko naman, bawat pahina at yung buong kuwento itself, kahit na sabihin nating kuwento siya ng isang pamilya at mag-asawa, sa tingin ko bilang audience, makikita mo yung sarili mo sa bawat characters, e.”
He adds that more than collaborating with great creators, their ultimate goal as husband and wife is to produce a film that would make their kids proud.
Dingdong then extends his vision to the audience, who, according to him, need to experience the film imbued with a “very, very big heart and may touch of magic realism.”
Marian seconds, “Sa madaling salita, ito yung pelikulang alam namin na magiging proud yung mga anak namin sa amin.”

Direk Mae excited to work with DongYan
According to Direk Mae, the project was first offered to DongYan in 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic restricted the production from pushing through.
Now, Direk Mae says, “And then ito, matutuloy na siya, so parang feeling ko meant to be.
“Part noong excitement na alam mong ang tagal and yet here we are, launching this project,” she adds, emphasizing God’s perfect timing.
Marian and Dingdong last headlined the 2010 romantic comedy film “You To Me Are Everything.” It was directed by director Mark A. Reyes and produced by Regal Entertainment. The last time they worked together was in the 2021 sitcom “Jose and Maria’s Bonggang Villa” on GMA-7.
As of this writing, other details of “Rewind,” including the other cast and its release date are yet to be released.
