“If meron mang nagta-try, hindi ko sila papansinin,” says Gil Cuerva if someone attempts to flirt with him
Hindi raw aware ang Sparkle artist na si Gil Cuerva tungkol sa tinutukoy ng girlfriend na si Lexi Gonzales nang minsang magsalita ito tungkol sa “ahasan” sa showbiz.
Noong nakaraang press conference ng “Regal Studio Presents,” nagbigay ng hugot si Lexi tungkol sa mga kapwa artistang nang-aahas ng karelasyon ng iba.
Bagama’t walang pinangalanan at tinukoy na sitwasyon si Lexi, may mga hinuhang nangyari ito sa kanila ni Gil.

Nang makapanayam ng FreebieMNL at ng columnist na si Rose Garcia si Gil pagkatapos ng press conference ng “Five Breakups and a Romance” noong October 4, inamin niyang tinanong niya si Lexi kung ano ang tinutukoy niya sa kanyang hugot.
Natatawang kwento ni Gil, “Di naman ako aware, e! Actually, I asked her about it na, ‘Uy, sabi mo raw may nang-a-ahas?’
“’Hindi naman ah. Stick to one naman ako, you don’t have to worry about that.
“I guess, ine-explain lang niya in general lang naman, like sa industry, in general lang naman, maraming nang-aahas. Hindi naman siguro specific sa akin.”
Hindi rin daw aware si Gil kung gusto may mang-agaw sa kanya kay Lexi.
Nakangiting sagot ni Gil, “Hindi naman ako aware sa ganun. If meron mang nagta-try, hindi ko sila papansinin, Diyos ko. Sorry. Ekis.”
Sa katunayan, mas gusto raw ni Gil na panatilihin ang kanyang pagiging friendly sa mga nakakasamang artistang babae para maipakitang safe sila sa kanya at hindi siya mag-a-attempt na ligawan o landiin.
Paliwanag ni Gil, “Ako, the reputation that I want to have, para maging safe din ako sa co-actresses ko or fellow artists ko, I try to have the buddy-buddy image na pag kinakausap ko yung fellow artista ko na babae, I try to make a friendly conversation.
“I usually ask them tungkol sa mga pets nila or yung mga travels nila. Kung may boyfriend sila, I ask them about their boyfriends.
“So, para they feel safe, they don’t feel na ako yung type na tipikal na artista na naglalandi kahit may dyowa na, yung mga ganun.
“So, I try to have that kind of friendly image, hindi bale nang medyo corny ako or hindi ako astig. As long as I’m safe to be with, then okay na yun sa akin.”
Gil’s relationship with Lexi
Sinabi rin naman ni Lexi noong press conference ng “Regal Studio Presents” na malaki naman ang tiwala nila ni Gil sa isa’t isa.
Sinegundahan naman ito ni Gil, kaya nga raw walang problema sa kanya kahit maipareha sila sa iba-ibang mga aktor.
Sabi niya, “Ako, for me, kilala ko si Lexi, e. So, i know how she is as a person; I really have no concerns about her being paired with other guys.
“Like for example, sa Regal, di ba parati siyang nape-pair sa iba-ibang guys? Okay lang yun.
“I know naman na she’s career-driven. Work is work talaga. She’s trying do the best in her career.
“Yung mga boys na yan, kahit meron mang mag-attempt, I’m not saying meron pero let’s say there is somebody, dedma lang siya.”
Importante rin daw para kay Gil na na-assure niya si Lexi pagdating sa pagmamahalan nila.
Lahad niya, “Kailangan talaga kasi sabihin na natin, yung mga girls every now and then, ‘Do you love me? Do I still matter to you? Am I important? Am I pretty? Do I look fat?’
“Siyempre, those are my small ways of assuring her pero I guess, kasi ako, my love language is physical. What I mean by that is spending time with the person or face to face.
“So, that’s how I give assurance, by dedicating more time to her.”

Proud din si Gil na sabihing Lexi brings out the best in him lalo na pagdating sa kanilang career.
“Definitely, she brings out the best in me kasi I feel a certain sense of responsibility lalo na pagdating sa career.
“No girl wants to be with a guy who’s not focused on his career, sa trabaho niya. Hindi siya petiks-petiks pagdating sa trabaho because you need to have a plan, you need to have a future that you can provide para sa partner mo.
“So, through Lexi, I feel more motivated to take care of my career, take care of myself because I don’t want her to [think] na petiks-petiks ako or wala akong pake.”
Sa halos dalawang taon nilang magkasintahan, paano napapanatili nina Gil at Lexi na matatag ang kanilang relasyon?
Sagot ng Kapuso actor, “She’s not hard to be with. She’s patient with me.
“Ako, aminado ako, sometimes I can be hard to deal with. Sa totoo lang, there are times masungit po talaga ako. There are times na medyo moody lang talaga ako, the smallest of things, medyo naiinis ako or I get annoyed.
“Pero si Lexi, she’s patient with me. I guess through time, she’s there to understand na may ganung side ako na may pagka-masungit.
“But I guess, the key in every relationship is adjusting to one another. They always say, a relationship is 50-50 but it’s not always 50-50. There are days when she’s 80, I’m 20 percent, and then, you meet halfway.
“But it’s not all the time na half and half kayo, you always have to adjust to your partner and bring out the best in you.”
Gil’s first movie
Samantala, masaya naman si Gil na maging parte ng pelikula nila Alden Richards at Julia Montes na “Five Breakups and a Romance,” na showing na sa mga sinehan.
Gumaganap dito si Gil bilang isa sa mga kaibigan ni Alden.
Mapalad daw si Gil na makatrabaho sina Alden at Julia lalo pa’t unang pelikula niya ito.
Kuwento ni Gil, “This is my first move ever, seven years na po ako sa showbiz and this is my first movie ever.
“I’m just happy to be a part of this project. I’m part of the movie na kung saan yung bida is Alden and Julia, they are two of the biggest stars and people I really look up to.
“Lalo na si Alden, the way he treats people, the way he dedicates himself to his craft, and of course, si Julia, same kami ng handler sa Cornerstone.
“So, [our handler] can attest how Julia is as a person, her character and it was great for me to see it in person naman. I never really got the chance to work with her, first time ever kay Julia and it was really nice to see.”
Natuwa raw si Gil na masaksihan kung gaano kagaling sina Alden at Julia bilang mga aktor sa isa sa mga eksena nila.
“May big confrontation scene sila and I was there and I can feel gaano ka-intense and how they stayed committed to the scene.
“They didn’t fake it, e, and my feeling as somebody part of the scene, alam mo yung feeling na parang, ‘Oh my, God. Parang nag-aaway na talaga sila.’
“Medyo intense, kinakabahan ako, that was the feeling that I got because very intense sila sa mga eksena nila.”
