One of Christophe’s songs is inspired by his girlfriend!
Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas’s son, Christophe Sommereux, is all set to conquer the music scene.
The 18-year-old showbiz royalty has just signed a contract with ABS-CBN Music’s label, StarPop.
The contract signing was a surprise for Christophe that happened during his 18th birthday celebration on January 27 at Glass Garden Events Place.
Christophe turned a little emotional when a long table was being set up on stage while ABS-CBN Music executives Roxy Liquigan, Rox Santos, and Jonathan Manalo gave their messages to him.
Both executives promised that they will make Christophe “a big star” in the music industry and honored his talent in songwriting and singing.
In an interview with FreebieMNL and other press at the sidelights of the celebration, Christophe explains why he got a little emotional during the surprise contract signing.
He admits, “Well, as of now po kasi, even kahit sa confidence kong ganyan, I still have self-doubt.
“So, kapag sinabi ng tao sa akin na, ‘I’m gonna make you something great,’ sa isip ko, hindi ako naniniwala, e.
“Kasi I still tend to get insecure sometimes, hindi ko maiwasan. Pero those words were very comforting kasi it assured me that I am in good hands.”
How would Christophe describe the feeling of signing his first contract with ABS-CBN Music?
“Very surreal siya, hindi pa nagpa-process pero ayun, sa awa po ng Diyos, nakaraos din sa lahat!”
It seems like Christophe is now ready to enter showbiz, basing on the performance he did for his guests during the party.
His reaction: “We never say we are ready until we try!”
But, given that his parents are in show business, did he see himself entering the industry.
“For the longest time po talaga, I’ve always loved performing for the people at saka na-notice ko po talaga yung emotion and attitude na nabi-bring forward every time I perform.
“Parang ibang tao kasi usually, sa labas, medyo mahinhin ako although extroverted pero medyo mahinhin ako. Sometimes, reserved pero if I get the opportunity to perform, doon ko po lahat ilalagay.”

Christophe’s song for his girlfriend
In terms of his music and style, Christophe is proud to say that everything he will produce comes from his heart
He tells the press, “Basta yung sound ni Christophe, forever developing yan. May hint ng rock, may hint ng ballad, may hint ng lahat kasi galing sa puso ko.
“Like I said earlier, yung mga composition ko po, promise ko po is galing sa puso ko.
“Kung hindi niyo po gusto or may criticism kayo, at least may assurance kayo na hindi ko yan kinopya.”
In fact, one of Christophe’s songs is inspired by his girlfriend when they went through a little challenge in their relationship.
“Actually, yung story nito, it’s how I felt the first time na umalis yung girlfriend ko for college, the feeling of drifting away from her ‘tapos ang layo pa niya, UPLB. Ako, UP Diliman, e.
“Kasi for the longest time, neighbors po kami so talagang na-build yung relationship namin.
“Naglalakad po kami sa village, ‘tapos ayun po, ‘tapos medyo hindi nasanay na wala na siya doon next to me.”

Christophe then quips: “Wala po kayong idea kung paano ako magmahal, grabe!”
Despite joining show business, Christophe clarifies that his studies remain as his priority, and that’s why he is thankful to Star Music.
“Thankfully sila sir Rox, very understanding sila sa studies ko kasi yun po talaga yung priority ko ngayon, So, very thankful din po ako.”
As for future plans in showbiz, Christophe only says, “Gusto ko po talagang ma-establish muna yung career ko as a musician ‘tapos from there, kung may opportunity man po, siyempre, we’ll always take it.”
