Here’s What Claudine Barretto Thinks About Niece Julia, Bea Alonzo’s Reconciliation

Claudine: “Sobrang na-happy ako don”

Claudine Barretto has expressed her happiness on the interaction that her niece, Julia Barretto, shared with Bea Alonzo during the tribute party for star maker Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan. 

Claudine is one of the many celebrities who attended the birthday celebration of Mr. M at Marriott Hotel on Saturday, March 16, 2024. 

One of the rare moments that the event witnessed was Julia and Bea’s reconciliation and seemingly friendly meet—years after their feud involving Gerald Anderson was publicized through a series of Instagram posts. 

Claudine, who was just as cordial to her niece now after their own issues, has then reacted to Julia and Bea’s friendly moment. 

In an interview with Claudine via ABS-CBN News on Thursday, March 21, 2024, she shares, “Sobrang na-happy ako doon.

“That was what I was worried about that night. Knowing Julia, hindi iyan matapang. Hindi iyan parang ako, ayaw nga niyan umakyat ng stage. Nahihiya. Hindi ko alam, basta. Sinabi ko na, hindi, sama siya sa akin.”

Just as much, Claudine thinks that Bea has long forgotten the issue, saying, “Pero knowing Bea also, alam ko wala na iyon sa kanya.”

What happened between Julia Barretto and Bea Alonzo in the past? 

Julia and Bea’s past with each other was tarnished with controversy, following the latter’s breakup with then-boyfriend Gerald Anderson in 2019. 

While the reason behind the separation was not disclosed, people speculated that Julia might be the culprit. That was at a time when Gerald developed a sense of closeness with “Between Maybes” leading lady, Julia. 

The rumor sparked even more when Bea published a cryptic tweet that reads, “You can’t make the same mistake twice. The second time you make it, it’s not a mistake anymore, it’s a choice. ENOUGH.” 

With Julia’s name being dragged into the issue, she then addressed Bea through Instagram. 

Part of her statement reads, “Bea, you wanted to keep your hands clean by not mentioning me in your controversial post, but with a click of your finger, in your sly way, you have charged everybody to destroy me for you.  

“You can play the victim all you want, but I refuse to be your victim.” 

Two years later, Gerald confirmed his relationship with Julia via an interview with Boy Abunda. Bea, on the other hand, dated Dominic Roque and eventually got engaged before calling it quits in February 2024.
