Why Luis Manzano, Robi Domingo Said Yes To Hosting PIE Game Shows

Luis Manzano and Robi Domingo are doing PIE shows for the first time

For the first time, ABS-CBN hosts Luis Manzano and Robi Domingo are doing programs for PIE.

PIE is an entertainment interactive channel under the partnership of KROMA Entertainment, ABS-CBN, and 917Ventures. Airing for over a year now, PIE showcases different types of interactive shows, mainly game shows.

For this season, Luis and Robi are introduced as new hosts to two new game shows. Luis hosts “Tamang Hinala,” a mystery game show, while Robi plays game master in “Watchawin,” where katroPIEs have to watch a clip and recall details and elements in order to win a prize.

During the recent Lucky PIEtime press conference, FreebieMNL asked Robi and Luis what made them say yes to doing shows for PIE.

Robi explains that he is excited to work with familiar faces from ABS-CBN, as well as from KROMA.

He says, “For me, two things, the concept and, of course, the people behind it kasi yung mga kasama din namin sa PIE, familiar faces from ABS-CBN.

“And also sa KROMA, because my fiance worked in NYMA before for a time, so, nakikita ko yung mga familiar faces na, ‘Uy, nandito ka rin pala.’ So, maganda yung environment.” NYMA is KROMA’s talent management agency.

But definitely, it was the concept that made Robi agree to host “Watchawin.”

Ang pinaka-nagpa-yes sa akin, e, it’s the first-ever game show na makakasama ako.

“And also, the concept is really really nice, natuwa ako na manonood ka lang ‘tapos pwede kang manalo ng maraming maraming papremyo.”

Luis, however, has an admission on why he said yes.

Maganda yung sagot ni Robi. Ako, iisa lang naman ang dahilan bakit tinanggap ko ito, kaliwaan ang bayad!

Mahirap mag-antay kasi, e. May anak na ako. Iba na ako ngayon,” Luis says with the audience laughing, understanding that he was pulling a joke.

Turning serious in his explanation, Luis was impressed with the format of “Tamang Hinala.”

Para sa akin talaga, it’s the format, it’s the concept of the show. Sabi ko nga noong unang binato sa akin, it doesn’t matter if it’s from the main channel or any other platform.

Na-excite talaga ako noong prinesent sa akin kasi I think everyone, out of all the shows sa mga social media, lahat tayo gusto maging SOCO, maging CSI.

“So, sabi ko, nakakatawa, sigurado ako na mag-e-enjoy ako dito at mag-e-enjoy lahat ng mga katroPIE natin.”

Robi Domingo on fighting against teleseryes

As for Robi, his show offers an alternative to those who do not want to watch soap operas as his show airs on the primetime slot.

When FreebieMNL asked him about this, he said with a laugh, “Salamat sa pressure.”

But why does he think viewers would switch to his show?

He explained, “I think dito sa programang din ito, maiiyak ka rin dahil baka pwedeng hindi mo makuha yung tamang sagot o mase-stress ka.

“It’s really a different type, ibang klaseng viewing experience na if you can catch up din sa iba-ibang mga istorya sa mga big channels. Pero for us, siyempre, we will reward you when you watch and you can win for as much as ten thousand pesos.

“So, pwedeng dahil sa panonood mo, tutok na tutok ka talaga, you can win a lot of cash at diretso GCash ito!”

Luis then quipped, “Siguro para may kaunting laban talaga, sabi nga ni Robi mabigat yung mga kasabayan sa timeslot, may mga certain episodes na si Robi, magho-host ng walang saplot para mas tumutok talaga!”

Aside from Luis’ “Tamang Hinala” and Robi’s “Watchawin,” PIE also recently launched “Mukhang Perya” with Eric Nicolas as main host.

The other game shows that air on PIE are “Ur Da Boss” with Melai Cantiveros and Jennica Garcia, and “Sinong Manok Mo?” with Jolina Magdangal and Bayani Agbayani.
