Matteo Guidicelli asked if he would go topless for the MMFF parade!
Confident ngunit kinakabahan din si Matteo Guidicelli dahil sa unang pagkakataon, magbibida siya sa isang entry para sa Metro Manila Film Festival, ang “Penduko.”
Sa ilalim ng direksyon ni Jason Paul Laxamana, ang “Penduko” ay sa produksyon ng VIVA Films at Cignal Entertainment.
Sa solo press conference ni Matteo na ginanap sa VIVA Boardroom noong Biyernes, November 17, confident si Matteo na maraming magkakagusto sa pelikula nila lalo na’t ito ay para sa mga bata at buong pamilya.
Ani Matteo, “I’m confident that the movie will be great because Direk Jason Paul Laxamana really wrote something very very beautiful.
“He’s created a universe of ‘Penduko’ that’s out of this world and correlates with a lot of people today.”
Subalit dahil unang MMFF movie ito ni Matteo, hindi naman niya maiwasang kabahan din kaya ayaw niya ring maging over confident sa magiging outcome nito.
“It’s my first MMFF so I’m very very nervous, so I don’t want to be overconfident.
“I’m confident about the film, it’s beautiful, but I wouldn’t want to expect so much from myself. But I’m excited for everybody to watch it this December 25.
“If you ask me about my confidence, I believe that I’m confident that it will do well. I am hoping but not overly confident na ako ang number one. But people will enjoy the movie, it will talk a lot about Filipino culture and people will just enjoy the experience.”

Physically prepared
Excited din si Matteo dahil unang beses din niyang tutungtong sa isang float para sa MMFF Parade of the Stars.
Natatawang kwento ng VIVA artist, “Napapanood ko lang po sa TV, sa pictures dati, ngayon kasama na ako!
“Magtatapon din ako ng t-shirt! Hahaha! Bigyan ko ng t-shirt.”
Tamang tama rin at ipinakita ni Matteo ang kanyang magandang pangangatawan sa mga eksena at maging sa poster ng “Penduko.”
Kaya naman natanong si Matteo kung willing din ba siyang mag-topless katulad ng nasa poster pagsakay ng float?
Natatawang sagot ni Matteo, “Kung pwede mag-topless? Baka! Oo. Talagang todo yung tan natin!”
Pero talaga raw pinaghandaan ni Matteo ang pangangatawan para sa action film.
Kwento niya, “We really worked hard for the physical aspect talaga. A few months before this, I was a 175, and coming to the movie, I went down to 160 for the movie.
“And then, we had a proper physical training, regimen for that because last yearm we trained, we became big, bulky.
“Here, we want to be more lean, more agile, slim. We didn’t want to be bulky or macho or anything. So, we specifically did this for this role kumbaga. I’d like to give that to my trainers for guiding me to do this.”
Action scenes in “Penduko”
Speaking of action, marami raw dapat asahan ang mga manonood na action scenes kay Matteo sa “Penduko.”
Pagbabalik-tanaw ng 33-year-old actor, “I think every scene has its own challenges, especially yung fight scenes dahil one week kaming naka-lock in sa isang studio.
“We built this very beautiful set, one week bugbugan, maraming pasaan dun, legs kamay kasi talagang minsan di maiiwasan yan, tatamaan talaga kami.
“So, that was challenging but our fight choreographer-director, Erwin Tagle, did a brilliant job.
“Months before entering the set, nag-rehearse kami, kino-choreograph talaga nila yung fight scenes and distancing para safe talaga lahat. Hindi lang basta basta 1, 2, 3 lang. Talagang matindi yung fight choreogprahy ni Erwin.
“So, I’m excited for everybody to experience it.”
Bukod kay Matteo, kabilang sa cast ng “Penduko” sina Albert Martinez, John Arcilla, Kylie Verzosa, at Arron Villaflor, kasama ang iba pang VIVA talents.
