It’s definitely the end of an era!
Long-time “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak has decided to move on from his role.
His announcement on Twitter last June 13, 2023 states that his next season on the show will be his last. It will be his 41st season on the show.
Pat did not specify the reason why he is stepping down as host, but he did state that he will “have more to say in the coming months.”
Pat is a staple of American Television, having hosted the show for nearly 40 years. He has won several Emmys and even has a Daytime Emmy lifetime achievement award.
He has entertained millions of Americans throughout his time as a host. In terms of popularity amongst syndicated network television “Wheel of Fortune” is only second to “Jeopardy”.
Vanna White, his co-host, said on Twitter: “I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come!”
During his long-storied career, Pat has almost never missed a taping of the show. Only serious medical issues have prevented him from hosting, during which Vanna would step in.
Man Of Many Talents
Pat was born on October 26, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Columbia College Chicago. Prior to becoming a household name, he wore many different hats. He joined the military in 1968 and worked on the Armed Forces Radio. After he returned from the military he worked as a weatherman and, later, as a talk show host.
Fans of Pat and “Wheel of Fortune” in general need not worry! Suzanne Prete, an executive vice president for Sony Pictures Television, has confirmed that Pat will still be a part of the “Wheel of Fortune” family. He has agreed to work as a consultant for the show for three years after his exit as host.
No replacement for Pat has been announced just yet.
