Sanya Lopez is starting to study Danaya again!
The comeback of “Encantadia” is one of the big projects that Sparkle artist Sanya Lopez is preparing for as she signs a new contract with her home network, GMA-7.
This, she confirmed to FreebieMNL and other media outlets during her launch as the ambassador of the Amara Shia Jewelry line on October 5, 2023 at Casa Ibarra, Pasay City.
“Encantadia,” the ground-breaking series of GMA-7, is set to make a comeback via its spin-off, “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre.” The cast members of the 2016 version are expected to make a comeback, and new artists are set to join them for the spin-off series.
Aside from Sanya, the other lead stars of the 2016 “Encantadia” are Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, and Ruru Madrid.

Just last Monday, October 23, it was formally revealed that Bianca Umali will play one of the new Sang’gres, where she will assume the role of Sang’gre Terra.
But even before the formal announcement, Bianca was already revealed to play the title role of “Sang’gre” in the spin-off during a conference in San Francisco, USA.

Based on creator Suzette Doctolero’s podcast interview in 2022, the story of “Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre” will center on the daughter of Sang’gre Danaya, who was played by Sanya in the 2016 version. This means that Sanya will still become a big part of the series.
During her interview, Sanya says that while they are not being asked yet to prepare for the new show, she has started her own preparations.
“Siguro now, ang preparation ko lang talaga, wala pa naman actually sinasabi sa amin na, ‘Mag-ready ka na, ha. Mag-ready na kayo.’
“Pero ako, nag-start na ako ulit mag-work out, puro ganun lang kasi ano gagawin natin, kailangan naman talaga natin magpalakas ng katawan ulit,” pertaining to the possible action scenes that are needed to be done in “Encantadia.”
Aside from this, Sanya has also started studying Danaya again, especially since she has already assumed a lot of roles after the series, including the two-season top-rating series “First Yaya.”
“Nitong mga nakalipas na araw, dinadaanan ko ulit sa YouTube si Danaya. So, inuulit-ulit ko muna para bumalik sa akin si Danaya.
“Kasi nag-Yaya Melody tayo, baka Yaya Melody si Danaya, naiba! So yun, binabalikan ko lang uli kasi iba’t ibang character na yung [nagawa] natin though itong Urduja, medyo nalalapit din.”
Sanya’s last teleserye was the primetime series “Mga Lihim ni Urduja,” where she assumed a special role as Urduja.
Working with Bianca
Sanya is also excited to welcome Bianca to the roster of “Encantadia” stars.
At the time of the interview, however, Sanya cannot exactly reveal more details since everything has yet to be formally announced by GMA-7.
But since they are set to play mother and daughter in the series, the two Sparkle artists are slowly starting to immerse in their roles through their stint in “All-Out Sundays.”
Sanya shares, “Kasi, di ba, regular na ako sa ‘All-Out Sundays,’ and madalas kami magkasama doon ni Bianca.
“Nakakatuwa kasi, ‘Uy, parang mother-daughter yung peg natin dito.
“Kasi lagi kami magkasama sa prod, so feeling ko, isa yun sa mga ways na madalas kami pinagsasama, para mas mapalapit, though magkaibigan kami ni Bianca.
“So, siya, nagpe-prepare na siya talaga kasi yung kwento is about sa anak which is Bianca nga.”
In real life, Sanya is 27 while Bianca is 23, marking a four-year age gap. But in the kingdom of Encantadia, the creatures do not get old.
“Encantadia” is one of GMA-7’s ground-breaking series that became iconic to its viewers. Its original version in 2005 was headlined by Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, Karylle, and Diana Zubiri.
