Sarah Geronimo is the first Filipina to receive the Global Force award
Sarah Geronimo sheds the spotlight on her mom Divine Geronimo during the Billboard Women in Music 2024 event in Los Angeles, California.
Sarah is currently in the United States for the Billboard Women in Music 2024—wherein she was acknowledged as a Global Force Honoree. Such a merit was handed for her important contributions in the music industry.
During the blue carpet event on Thursday, March 7, 2024, Sarah said that the award, itself, holds gravity.
When asked by on-ground interviewers Lilly Singh and Rania Aniftos about how she feels having a global influence, Sarah says, “It is very unexpected, I mean, to be considered a global force.”
“For me, a global force means having that power to influence people. And it also comes with a big responsibility, right?
“You have to be mindful [of] the materials that you are going to put out there. So, you have to create change and positivity to other people.”

For a gathering that champions women, Sarah made sure to deliver a point across: her mother—Divine Geronimo—has been instrumental for the woman that she is today.
Sarah shares, “Women are beautiful, women are strong. Now that I am married, I understand how marriage can be difficult sometimes.
“Men are beautiful as well, I mean the way they manage, they cope up with everything that goes on with our minds as women.
“But women, especially mothers out there, shoutout to my mother, Mommy Divine Geronimo, you are the best, you are my hero, I love you very much.
“I mean I cannot imagine myself being a mother, all the sacrifices that a mother has to do for their child, it’s mind-blowing.”

Sarah will convene with other 12 important female musical personalities, with Karol G being hailed as the 2024 Woman of the Year. Other female musicians who were also recognized are Charli XCX, Ice Spice, Newjeans, and Kylie Minogue.
Meanwhile, it may be recalled that Sarah and her mom had a falling out which dates back in February 2020, following Sarah’s secret wedding to now-husband Matteo Guidicelli.
However, there have been several instances when Sarah would express her love for Mommy Divine, the latest of which was in her concert in May 2023.
