Sunshine Cruz on co-parenting with Cesar Montano: “Nagkaroon ng forgiveness”
Actress Sunshine Cruz has now become more open on her co-parenting set-up with ex-husband Cesar Montano, a sign that they now have a healthy connection for their kids.
The actor’s current partner, Socorro “Kath” Angeles, is also someone that Sunshine gets along with.

In order to ring in 2023, the blended family of Cruz and Montano took a joint trip to Bohol! While this may seem normal, it’s worth noting that things weren’t always peaceful. Years ago, Cruz and Montano even ended up in a bitter legal custody battle over Angelina, Samantha, and Angel Francheska (known as “Chesca”).

During the press conference for the GMA show “Underage,” Cruz was asked how the reconciliation came about.
“Siguro because it’s been almost ten years ng separation namin. At kahit na anong lalim naman yan, kapag nasugatan ka, naghi-heal, di ba? [In] God’s perfect time, nag-heal kami pareho.” Their daughters are also clearly happy about the positive shift.
Sunshine is also happy and grateful that her three daughters have a good relationship with their dad.
“It started [in 2022] na nagkaroon ng forgiveness and mismong ang mga anak ko [sa] interview, sinasabi nila na yung peace sa puso nila, nabuo nong nagka[relationship] with their dad. … They now have a beautiful relationship with their father, so, hindi na lang ako ngayon ang nakakakapag-advice.”
Sam also celebrated her 18th birthday and debut celebration in 2022, where the blended family came together to celebrate. The daughter and father duo even did a duet.
Sunshine goes on to speak nothing but positivity about Montano’s current partner, who supports their co-parenting. “Minahal niya ang mga anak ko at tinanggap niya ang mga anak ko. … [Nandiyan] ang kanilang Tita Kath para suportahan at mag-advice sa kanila.”
New Year
The girls and Montano’s kids with Angeles get along as well, which Cruz is also happy about. The Bohol trip to celebrate the New Year was initially just Cruz and her daughters. It was Montano and Angeles who made the choice to come along, which was a welcome move. The pair brought their children, Liam and Kristen.
“[New Year], nong malaman nila na nakapag-schedule kami at nakapagpa-book sa Bohol, biglang nagdesisyon sila na sasama raw sila sa amin. So sabi ko, why not, diba? Kasama si Diego (Loyzaga, Cesar’s son by actress Teresa Loyzaga) and it was fun, it was fun. Ang sarap-sarap sa pakiramdam. Nagkaroon ng forgiveness and magkakaibigan lahat.”
