Barbie and Maris might just be the new dream leads of a film!
Singer-actress Maris Racal and Kapuso star Barbie Forteza expressed that they want to work with each other through tweets that they published on Monday, May 22, 2023.
Maris Racal was first to show interest after quote-retweeting her and Barbie’s photographs captioned with their names.
Maris says, “sobrang game if ever.” And it was quickly followed by Barbie’s resounding tweet, “Game!” further cementing that they are very open for possible future television and big screen collaborations.
The prospect was met with upbeat reception from netizens, all expressing their excitement.
A brief history of Maris Racal’s career
The 25-year-old Maris Racal made her way to stardom after her “Pinoy Big Brother: All In” first runner-up finish. During the competition, she was dubbed as the “Singing Sunshine from Davao,” which she proved true as she pursued her singing career even after the culmination of the reality show.
To date, she has already released a handful of track titles, including the hit “Di Papakawalan,” “Asa Naman,” “Abot Langit,” and “Ate Sandali.”
On top of singing, Maris has also made notable appearances in television and film. Her recent acting stint went global as she headed to in April 2023 to Italy to represent their Quark Henares-directed film, “Where Is The Lie?” at the Udine Far East Film Festival.
“Where Is The Lie?” is a film based on a true story about a controversial catfishing incident involving a trans woman that had published her traumatic experience on Twitter.
Officially titled “Marupok AF (Where Is The Lie?)” is produced by ANIMA Studios under Kroma Entertainment.

Maris’ recent project is said to be under Project 8 Projects of the respected filmmaker Antoinette Jadaone. She is set to work with Sparkle actor Khalil Ramos also lauded for his performance in the primetime series Maria Clara at Ibarra.

Barbie, on the other hand, started her showbiz career at the age of 12. She had her first lead role in the 2010’s “First Time”—a drama series starring her then-love team Joshua Dionisio.
In 2016, the 24-year-old Sparkle artist bagged the prestigious Best Actress award from the Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal for her important portrayal as Nadia, an indigenous Badjaw woman, in the indie film “Laut.”

Just one of Barbie’s critical performances was the recently concluded “Maria Clara at Ibarra” of GMA wherein she played as Klay. The upbeat social media momentum and hyped viewer response made it one of GMA-7’s masterpieces and continues to rank in the top shows of Netflix.
Barbie bannered the show with other celebrities, including Julie Anne San Jose and Dennis Trillo, and gave birth to Barbie’s love team with David Licauco.
