The fifth installment is taking us back to the Lambert family.
On July 21, Sony Pictures confirmed a release date for Insidious 5. That’s the good news. The bad news is that fans of the franchise have to wait a bit longer for the latest sequel. The horror-thriller film will hit theaters on July 27, 2003.
The Insidious franchise is known for its linear storytelling, and unpredictable jump scares. Some even argue that the Insidious films have some of the best jump scare scenes! This is because their sequences don’t surprise you. Every scene is built up with scary visuals and loud sound effects, which is the perfect mix.
While details of the film’s story are unknown, we know it’ll revolve around the Lambert family. According to reports, the fifth movie will take us back to the Lamberts, ten years after the second film. Oh, and Dalton’s off to college! We last saw the Lamberts in Insidious and Insidious: Chapter Two.
“I’m honored and thrilled to be at the helm of the next Insidious installment. It’ll provide an amazing chance to unpack everything the Lamberts went through. It’ll also deal with the consequences of their choices,” Wilson said in a 2020 interview.
The fifth Insidious film will be Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut. He expressed his excitement about being captain of the ship,
“Directing the movie is a full circle moment for me. I’m extremely grateful. I’m also very excited to tell this frightening and haunting story. Into the Further, we go.”
As we near its release next year, we’ll learn more about the secrets of Insidious: Chapter 5. This gives us plenty of time to prepare ourselves for all the terrifying scares the film offers.
If you’re something of a scaredy-cat, make sure to bring a buddy (or two or more) to the theater with you!
