Is Nadine Lustre Willing To Star In “T-Bird At Ako” Remake With Kathryn Bernardo?

Nadine: “I’m always game with challenges”

Fans of Nadine Lustre and Kathryn Bernardo are clamoring to see them both on one screen.

Netizens have been suggesting that the perfect storyline for their collaboration is an adaptation of the classic LGBTQIA+ film “T-Bird at Ako”

Released in 1982, “T-Bird at Ako” is originally bannered by “Superstar” Nora Aunor and “Star For All Seasons” Vilma Santos.

It follows the story of a lawyer (Nora) who handles a legal case of a dancer (Vilma) accused of homicide. While keeping their connection professional, the former struggles with confusion brought about by her budding romantic interest in the dancer.

With the clamor for a Nadine-Kathryn movie, Nadine was asked by some members of the press during the Bioten Hydroxcell launch on Friday, January 12, 2024, about this possibility.

Nadine explains that comfortability would be the main challenge if ever she dips into doing the project.

She begins, “I mean, it’s very challenging, especially because, you know, like with all of the movies na ganito or the projects na ganito, especially if you’re uncomfortable with that kind of intimacy.

Parang kung kayo, kayo na nga lang, medyo nakakailang kasi I’ve had an experience before na may ganyan. That’s why I know that I’m really straight, kasi naka-experience ako ng ganyan.

Despite the potential struggle she might face, Nadine assures that she’s always willing to take on any challenge.

“But then, yun lang. I guess, yung magiging challenge lang diyan for me is the level of comfortability. But ako naman, I’m always game with challenges.”

Nadine has also expressed that she wants to focus on work this 2024 given that travel consumed so much of her previous year. Adding to that, she says that doing more music this year is also on the list of her priorities.

Nadine Lustre on Vilma Santos’ approval

Vilma Santos—who played as Isabel in the film—approved Nadine and Kathryn to star in the possible remake.

When asked by ABS-CBN News about it, Nadine has expressed the same inhibitions as the film tackles a daring theme.

Nadine says, “I’m so happy she approves and appreciates my work, but I think it’s a matter of comfort level because I don’t think I’m ready for something like that. That’s very daring, di ba?

“It’s very intimate. I’m not sure if I’m ready for something like that but it’s a challenge, and you know naman I’m up for challenges. It’s something that we can work on, tingnan natin.”
