On Saturday, June 3, 2023, Jason clarifies via an Instagram post that he’s not in a relationship with anyone at the moment.

“Hi, for some people this has been clarified already but I want it to also come from me: the girl in the music video is not my girlfriend,” he says on Instagram.

Confirming the name being circulated on social media, Jason also identified the woman as Sumaya McEvoy, who happens to be his friend from El Nido.

Spurring criticisms days before launching his latest music video for the song “Ikaw Pa Rin,” Jason has posted images that netizens considered to be hinting at a brewing romance with Sumaya.

It now turns out that those were promotional teasers for the song.

In his statement on Saturday, Jason also points out that he is technically still married to hitmaker Moira dela Torre.

“I don’t have a girlfriend because I am technically still married and of course, I won’t have one while my annulment has not been finalized yet,” he writes.

Jason’s squabble with Moira’s sister

Apart from Jason’s posts, the music video has not escaped the exacting words of netizens on social media as it featured their wedding footage including Moira walking down the aisle and their exchange of vows.

Moira’s sister J’mee took her scathing remarks about the video on social media.

Nakakatawa ‘yung buong song, especially ‘yung part na ‘naghihintay pa rin hanggang ngayon sa ikaw at ako.’ Kasi parang buong year never ka naman nag-effort sa ate ko? Never ka din naman nag-effort sa family namin before and after kayo maghiwalay,” she tweeted.

“Naiirita lang ako kasi ang layo talaga ng mga pinagsasabi mo sa lyrics ng kanta mo. Why do you need to manipulate people into thinking that you still love and miss her,” she added.

Jason responded in a now-deleted post, saying that he was indeed “desperate” to have Moira back in his life. He shared some details of his efforts ever since their separation.

“You didn’t see kung paano siya nagbasag ng baso to shut me up. You didn’t see kung paano siya galit na galit noong nagpadala ako ng food sa kanya because I thought she was sick, and how she told me to never go near her again. You don’t know how I would wait outside the condo sa driveway para ma-timingan lang siyang kausapin,” he narrated.

Following this issue, reports of Moira’s supposed cheating also made rounds, something which she vehemently denied.
