“Ere” recently made history being the first Filipino song on the Spotify Global Chart
Juan Karlos “JK” Labajo has openly shared that his song “Ere” drew inspiration from his breakup with ex-girlfriend, model Maureen Wroblewitz.
The singer-songwriter didn’t hold back in an interview with ABS-CBN News, saying, “Kung hindi obvious, ewan ko na lang!
“Well, I’m not really hiding anything. It’s a super given thing that the whole thing was for a breakup. ‘Ere’ is one of the songs that I made for my relationship that ended, so that’s it.”
When asked about the connection between the song and the breakup, JK responded, “What part of the song? The whole song! Surprise!”
JK and Maureen’s split came in June 2022. The two artists announced the breakup on their social media platforms.

“Ere” made history by becoming the first Filipino song to debut on the Spotify Global Chart, securing the No. 177 spot with an impressive 1.22 million streams, as reported by Chart Data on October 8.
Juan Karlos also set a new record in Spotify Philippines charts history, achieving the highest single-day streams ever with 1.393 million on October 9, according to Chart Data PH.
In an interview with CNN Philippines, Juan Karlos expressed genuine surprise at the online success of “Ere,” stating, “Honestly, I don’t know. Actually, I’m surprised that it’s doing well because when I write stuff like that, I don’t have any expectations.”

“Ere” finds its place in JK’s latest album, “Sad Songs and Bullshit Part 1,” a project that artfully encapsulates the emotional rollercoaster of his breakup.

Reflecting on this musical journey, JK shared, “I’ve gone through it, everybody goes through it, and parang for me, it so happened na I write music and it became parang word vomiting, putting melodies in all these emotions that I had at that time.”
