Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes Showcase TV Comeback After MMFF Success

Jose and Maria get a new BnB rival!

“Kapuso Primetime King and Queen” Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera gear up for a new season of GMA-7’s “Jose and Maria’s Bonggang Villa 2.0,” which will start airing on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

Real and real-life couple Marian and Dingdong have reprised their roles as Jose and Maria for a second season, following the well-received success of their Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Rewind.”

The Kapuso network’s feel-good series is set for its television return, with the promise of doubled-up fun, romance, and excitement.

For the new season, the couple would take a seemingly impossible challenge of reaching a 1 million-peso quota for the hotel—a value twice as big as their recorded Php 500,000 quota in the last season.

Their goal to secure the revenue will become extra challenging now that another BnB business has just opened—Bed & Breakfast @ Tiffany’s owned by the newest cast, Pokwang.

The show will also bring back its previous lineup of characters: Benjie Paras as the all-around guy Mr. Nero, Sol Banayad as the hotel personnel Pekto, Shamaine Buencamino as Maria’s sharp-tongued mom Mama Au, and Pinky Amador who would play as Mommy Janice, Jose’s socialite mom.

The show is produced by GMA Network in collaboration with APT Entertainment. Both Dingdong and Marian also helm the series as co-producers.

With the challenges posed on Maria and Jose’s business, the question remains whether they are able to rise from the adversities. The story unfolds every Saturday, starting January 20, 2024, at 6:15 p.m. on GMA-7!

“Rewind” is now the highest-grossing Filipino film

“Jose and Maria’s Bonggang Villa 2.0” marks Marian and Dingdong’s return to doing Kapuso series. The series follows the heavy reception that their MMFF film “Rewind” recorded during its run from December 25, 2023 to January 17, 2024.

Currently, “Rewind” is the Philippines’ highest-grossing film. It has earned a total of Php 815 million in local ticket sales.

Following the record-breaking tally, Marian took to Instagram to say her appreciation and gratitude for everyone who supported the film.

Attached with a video montage, Marian writes, “Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Ang biyayang ito’y galing kay Lods, at nagpapasalamat kami na naging instrumento ang buong team para maikuwento ito. [praying hands emoji] Yakap sa inyong lahat.”

Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards’ 2019 Star Cinema film, “Hello, Love, Goodbye” previously held the record with its Php 691 million domestic revenue.

Prior to this, Dingdong has also aired words of appreciation for director Mae Cruz-Alviar who helmed the film. According to him, it was “delightful” working with the director, especially for a film that sits too close to his heart.
