Even Oscar-winning actors can be an ARMY too!
That they can just pop up and perform at an intersection in Los Angeles and still get a massive pop proves just how mega-popular BTS has become — even among the highbrows of Hollywood. From Joe Jonas to John Cena to mother****ing Samuel Jackson, the number of celebrities who have shamelessly announced their admiration for the South Korean superstars just keeps growing. And just recently, Jared Leto has joined that unique list.
Before he becomes the blood-sucking Morbius in Marvel’s next hit in 2022, Leto got to sit down with W Magazine to discuss the biopic House of Gucci, getting off TikTok, and of course, to gush over the seven-piece group that is BTS.
“I’ve the met the BTS guys before,” Leto told W Magazine. “If it weren’t for COVID I wouldn’t have washed this hand, and
I may have gotten a hug or two, just so you know — where was it, American Music Awards?”
The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman even spilled that he and BTS even got close to collaborating.
“You know, at one point we almost did a song, I think together. There was some talk of something, I don’t know.”
Although nothing became of it, the chemistry between the Oscar winner and the Grammy-nominated group is undeniable, as seen during their sweet interaction at the 2017 American Music Awards. After BTS performed their single “DNA” and as Leto was just about to present the next award, he took some time to proceed, explaining: “I need a moment to recover from that performance. That was incredible.”
Four years later, back in March, Leto lit up for BTS once more by joining a “Dynamite” medley alongside other A-listers such as Tom Holland, Steven Yeun, Tessa Thompson, James Corden, and George Clooney.
Could a link-up between Leto and BTS really work? Well, if Coldplay’s collaborative track “My Universe” proves anything, it’s that BTS knows no borders and that they can pop up anywhere unexpectedly — perhaps even in a Hollywood film with Leto, because why not?
