With Halloween just around the corner, lots of people have been putting together “Squid Game”-inspired costumes complete with green or pink tracksuits, masks, and white slip-on shoes. Just last week, Sole Supplier reported that the classic slip-on shoes from Vans–similar to the ones the “Squid Game” players wore–saw a 7,800% spike in sales after the series premiered on Netflix.
One of the people having fun dressing up as a “Squid Game” character is Carlo Aquino, who received a package complete with a “Squid Game” card, pouch, and green tracksuit from Netflix Philippines.
“Better late than never! 😉 Thanks [Netflix Philippines] for the surprise 🦑â•ï¸âŒ,” he posted on Instagram.
The Kapamilya actor previously shared that he almost played the role of Player 199 or Ali in the hit Korean series.
“Nakakalungkot na hindi natuloy dahil sa pandemic,” Carlo said during an interview with Star Magic Inside News.
“Hinayang na hinayang din naman talaga ako. Siyempre, trending ‘yung ‘Squid Game.’ At ang galing na makagawa ka ng ganoong istorya na nasa isang malaking malaking warehouse lang ‘yung shoot pero sobrang engaging ‘nung series,” he added.
Carlo also said that he’s happy to know that a fellow Filipino actor was cast in the show. Christian Lagahit, a Pinoy teacher and actor based in South Korea, appeared in the series as Player 276.
“May Pinoy din pala akong dapat na kasama doon. Sobrang happy din ako para sa kanya,” Carlo said.
