That’s three more than we expected!
It looks like Tom Holland will be sticking around in the MCU. Several sources recently confirmed that the British actor signed a new Spider-Man deal with six projects.
Since No Way Home, fans have speculated about Holland’s future as the MCU’s wall-crawler. Many claimed he would star in another trilogy. Others wanted Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire to reprise their roles as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in upcoming films after seeing them in No Way Home.
Last year, producer Amy Pascal revealed that Sony was developing “the next three” films with Holland and Kevin Feige of the MCU. Her statement implies that the studios have already reached an agreement. Their deal allegedly allows Holland to play Spider-Man in Daredevil: Born Again, The Kang Dynasty, and Secret Wars. Nothing else has been revealed, but that was enough to get fans hyped.
Holland’s appearance in Daredevil: Born Again alone could make it one of the best Marvel series on Disney+. It would give fans the street-level crime-fighting era they’ve always wanted. But what makes his involvement in future Avengers movies exciting is the possibility of seeing the other Spider-Men again.
Feige reportedly wants Tom Holland to appear in the Fantastic Four reboot. If you know your comics, that shouldn’t surprise you. After all, Marvel’s First Family and Spider-Man go way back. Many stories have focused on the latter’s bond with Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. That’s why having the wall-crawler in the reboot would make sense, even just for a cameo. Besides, a popular fan theory says Avengers Tower has been turned into the Baxter Building, aka the Fantastic Four’s base of operations.
What will Tom Holland do in ‘Spider-Man 4’?
There are a few possibilities for the plot of Spider-Man 4.
The last time we saw Peter, he lived alone after Doctor Strange erased him from everyone’s memory in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Spider-Man 4 could see Peter putting together a new life for himself, going to college and fighting crime as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Sources say the release date for Holland’s next solo outing in the MCU is July 12, 2024. This date is far from confirmed, though. If it’s true, this release date puts Spider-Man 4 near the end of Marvel’s Phase 5 and right after Season 1 of Daredevil: Born Again.
As usual, Marvel and Sony are keeping a tight lid on all things Spider-Man. But at least we know that Holland will suit up six more times. Even if we don’t know whether his future big-screen outings will be part of the MCU or if they’ll be set in Sony’s Spider-verse, there’s nothing to worry about.
